Zones of Regulation

Zones of Regulation are a well-being tool we use to support our learners throughout the day at Inclusion School.

They are a way for our learners to be able to recognise, define and express the feelings, emotion and mood they are experiencing – and allow the team to support them to find ones to reflect and self-regulate these emotions.

This system allows learners a simple way to think and talk about the way they feel inside and sort these feelings into one of the four coloured zones. Once they understand their feelings and the zones, the team are able to support learners to think about strategies and ways in which they can manage these different zones in order to achieve goals such as regulating big feelings, supporting learning and helping with healthy relationships.
